Tomorrow eve we invite passers-by to read with us at 7-8pm outside Beyond Retro, Stoke Newington. Reading together is a pleasant and rewarding pasttime. One challenge is to find texts that bring together a wide range of people, draw them into a text that they hear just as they pass by, and then even join in and read themselves. We welcome your suggestions so please share any ideas you have, either here on social media or come along and bring some texts on the night.
We are also interested in what format might encourage more people to read. So, for example, rather than having one single reader broadcast alone to a crowd, perhaps we set up a reading circle where everyone reads three paragraphs and passes the book – less pressure, more voices, more flow.
